I had a lovely cup of coffee this morning at a newish coffee shop not far from the city. It is quite obvious that a lot of effort went into getting the look and feel of the shop just right. It exudes a village cosiness that is very welcoming from the moment you lay eyes on it. It is neat and ordered in the manner of someone who is quite house proud.
The short breakfast menu was spot on and the food display was quite attractive. No doubt this shop will benefit greatly from the prodigious amount of outdoor footpath space on which it has put out tables and chairs when the weather warms up a bit. It is a nice place from which to watch the world go by.
The water was bought to me when I asked for some. This was nice surprise as usually you are directed to a water stand and given an invitation to get your own. While I can understand this, it is still nice to get it delivered. The only thing missing was newspapers which I think would be a great addition to this shop from a customers point of view. Having said that, the owners may have made a decision that the extra cost and the untidyness that can sometimes with the addition of newspapers outweigh the customer benefit. This is a balance that has probably been struck well by this shop as I'm sure they will still attract the customers and probably have the benefit not having people occupying a table for an hour while reading the paper just for the price of a cup of coffee.
I look especially forward to visiting this coffee shop when the weather warms up and the large windows are open. This is a lovely shop.
